In the proposed article, the author analyzes the operating conditions of the Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Kharkiv during the so-called “Polish operation”. It was initiated in 1937 by the authorities of the Soviet Union and aimed at the extermination of the Polish minority.Among the victims of this action in Kharkiv there were representatives of the Roman Catholic Church and Catholic parishioners, in particular priest Leonard Gashinsky tortured to death.
